TOMOKA STATE PARK 

Being located along the river Tomoka, the park has a myriad of water activities. Avid anglers can cast a line in the river’s waters that abound in fish. For that, they have access to five fishing areas spread along river bank. You can buy the fishing equipment and frozen bait from the camp store. The boat ramp allows for the tourists to practice paddling and boating, while admiring the enchanting sights. The park has a rich wildlife that consists of various species, including: tortoises, alligators, deers and some endangered species, such as: West Indian manatee. There are also 160 bird species like: herons, bald eagles, and wood storks. You will be able to explore this wildlife paradise, by taking a stroll on an one-mile trail throughout the park woods. If you look for an adrenaline rush, the park provides tracks for mountain biking. Geo seeking is another exciting activity, where you will need to prove your teamwork and orientation skills to achieve the fastest time.   After exploring the park, you have access to a variety of camping options. There are more than one hundred camping sites, and five picnic areas, where you can relax, eat, and chat with your friends. If you decide to stay the night, you can choose between ordinary campsites and primitive campsites. The first option relates to a campground already prepared for living, and having all basic amenities, like: electricity, and running water. Also, ordinary campsites include playgrounds. The second option is for adventure lovers. Primitive campsides lack amenities, and are found in the middle of the wood, putting you face to face with the wilderness. This type of overnight stay is preferred by youth. Beside campsides, the park has five picnic full-facility pavilions, which are a perfect place for family reunions and friends meetings, but also for spending the time after hiking, exploring, cycling, fishing and doing other recreational activities in the park.
